The beginning
Because I was unable to get a proper recommendation, I find I must get my teeth taken care of, more than I would have otherwise. Anyone who is interested in getting work done, expect delays, and dragging of feet. It happens with the clinic, the one who will help me with the money (firewall- oops I don't know who you are), the boss with my permission to leave - she wasn't happy.
I'm having this done in Thailand because it is about 1/4 the cost of having it done at home.
Having done my research, both with a testimonial from someone I KNOW who went here, and online testimonials, and the 33 emails back and forth asking questions, so I would feel comfortable, I chose the Sea Smile Clinic.
They have several offices here. I went to the wrong one to start, then someone accompanied me to the right one down the road. They in turn sent me to another because the work is substantial, and these are the best people for the job.
My temp was taken - good, blood pressure - not so good, but still good enough for treatment. They tried the dreaded impression - unsuccessful due to my gag reflex. I go back on Wed at 2 to try again.
The Dr had a higher pitched voice than I was expecting, which amused me. He was really nice. Maybe he'll know how I can have an impression without too much difficulty. I am enjoying as much as I can while I can. I know I'll have some difficulty for awhile, but also will have pain drugs to help me through it.
I have gotten to know my way around Patong pretty well, found the beach, found the cheap street food. Found the Mall It has 2 sides, 1 is for cheaper things, but some nice stuff too, and the other part, much more like the Malls from back home.
Where I am has some TV channels in English so I can keep up with the news, with BBC, NHK, and Fox, as well as a WB station and a Sony station. They also have channels in Russian, Chinese, and Italian. There is an Indian channel so I could see their soap operas.
I have chatted with some guests from Australia (this is quite the destination for them) and an English man, who emigrated to Australia from Manchester, England.
Luckily, as I know only SAWADEE KA - a greeting, KOP KUN KA- thank you, SAWADEE PI MI KA - Happy New Year, it nice to know many people that I have to deal with speak enough English so I can have my needs met, and they understand me.
